Alexandrite Laser – Also known as the “Gold Standard” for laser hair removal due to it’s high melanin absorption rate. This laser removes all hair types from fine to strong, from light to dark, on skin types 1-3 (Celtic fair skin to olive Mediterranean skin) effortlessly.
ND:YAG Laser – We use this advanced laser when treating anyone with darker skin types 5 and 6 (Darker Asian to Afro-Caribbean Skin). As long as your hair is darker than your skin tone, this laser will remove it.
Mixed Technology – This advanced technology combines Alexandrite & ND:YAG Laser in one combined emission giving faster, safer and significantly more efficient results on all skin types. This modality is exclusive to our Quanta Lasers.
IPL – We use our Intense Pulse Light device when treating skin types 1-4 (Celtic fair skin to Middle Eastern skin) with strong dark hairs, with no issues.

How does Laser Hair Removal work & is it suitable for me?
Laser Hair Removal only works on brown/black hair, it does not work on blonde, red or grey hair (these hairs can be treated with Electrolysis instead). This is due to laser light being absorbed by the melanin in the hair, destroying the hair at the root.
Best results are often achieved with clients who have fair skin and thick dark hair. This is due to the contrast between light skin and dark hair, allowing the melanin to be easily targeted. Lighter finer hairs have always been more challenging to destroy when treating darker skin, due to the contrast not being as clear… until now…. LaserWise Skin & Beauty Clinic offer MIXED TECHNOLOGY which is exclusive to our Quanta Laser Systems, which we are very proud to work with.
Mixed Technology is combining Alexandrite and ND:YAG Lasers allowing us to target finer hairs on darker skin types giving greater results than traditionally using an ND:YAG alone.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies person to person however on average we advise starting with 6 sessions being carried our every 4 – 6 weeks on the face or 6 – 8 weeks on the body. The reason for this is due to the 3 stages of hair growth in the cycle, known as the Anagen (growing) phase, Catagen (resting) phase and Telogen (shedding) phase. Laser can only destroy hairs in their growing phase. If hairs are lasered in the resting or shedding phase these hairs will still come back but damaged.
What Can I Expect During my Consultation?
When you book your consultation at LaserWise Skin & Beauty Clinic, a £50 deposit will be taken to secure your appointment which is redeemable off your treatment if you decide to go ahead. We will email a medical form for you to complete before your first appointment.
During your consultation, your medical forms will be checked thoroughly by one of our senior laser practitioners to ensure you are suitable for laser treatment. The process will be explained in depth and we will tell you all the information you need to know such as cost, aftercare etc. This is also a good opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
Once you are happy to continue, a patch test will be carried out by your selected laser practitioner, on the area(s) to be treated. You are now ready to start your Laser Hair Removal journey with us…
