Laser Tattoo Removal Cardiff
How Laser Tattoo Removal Works
Here at LaserWise Skin & Beauty Clinic, we specialise in laser tattoo removal in Cardiff, offering safe and effective treatments from our HIW-registered clinic. We have been removing tattoos since 2015 using the Quanta Q Plus C Q-Switch laser, one of the most advanced systems available. This high-powered technology delivers two wavelengths, 1064 nm and 532 nm, allowing us to treat all skin types and target a wide range of ink colours. Designed specifically to break down ink particles and pigmentation, it ensures precise, reliable results with minimal risk to surrounding skin.

Why Choose LaserWise for Laser Tattoo Removal in Cardiff
Not every clinic offering laser tattoo removal in Cardiff is regulated. LaserWise is registered with Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW), the independent body that inspects our policies and procedures. We have been removing tattoos since 2015.
Our owner, Suzanne Lazim, qualified in 2010 and holds a Level 4 laser qualification. Our team completes refresher training every month, so the person treating you is trained on the machine they are using.
The clinic has won two awards: Business of the Year 2016 and the Beauty Industry Award Cardiff 2016. You can read more about the team on our about the clinic page.
How Does It Work?
The reason tattoos last forever is that the ink molecules are too large for our bodies to break down. During laser tattoo removal, the ink particles are subjected, effectively, to very short (nanosecond) bursts of very high-energy light. The ink particles absorb this light effectively, but because there is such a large amount of energy in such a short period, they can’t get rid of the energy fast enough and instead ‘shatter’ the ink. The fragments of ink are then small enough to be removed by the body’s white blood cells and lymphatic system, mimicking the natural fading that time or sun exposure would create. Over time and repeated treatment, the tattoo fades until the skin is clear. Even without repeated treatment, the tattoo will continue to fade as your body carries on breaking the particles down.

Does Tattoo removal hurt?
We normally say that if you can tolerate having the tattoo in the first place, you will cope with having it removed. People describe it like hot pins on the skin or hot fat being spat at the skin. We also use our Cryo Cooling machine in conjunction with the Q-Switch laser, which blows out very cold air to keep the skin temperature controlled and reduces any chance of blistering. Without this Cryo Cooler, people are at higher risk of burning, discomfort & scarring. Numbing cream can also be applied 1 hour prior to your treatment to help reduce the discomfort.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Tattoo Removal is a long process. All clients are advised 6 – 12 treatments on average are required to remove a tattoo. These treatments are carried out every 8 weeks, which means 1 – 2 years are needed to remove a tattoo. This, however, depends on many factors such as:
- The colour of the tattoo
- The age of the tattoo
- Whether it was a cover up or not
- The ink used in the tattoo
- The size of the tattoo
- The depth of the tattoo
- The body part the tattoo is located
Every person and their tattoo is unique, therefore, we can never predict what the result will be until we start the process. People who are looking to cover up their old tattoo may only need 1-4 treatments to fade it, your tattoo artist will advise you on this.

Which Tattoo Colours and Skin Types Can We Treat?
Our Quanta Q Plus C delivers two wavelengths from a single machine. The 1064 nm wavelength treats black and dark blue ink and is safe on darker skin tones. The 532 nm wavelength targets red, orange and warmer colours.
This means we can treat all skin types. Black ink usually clears fastest. Green and light blue inks are the most stubborn and often need more sessions. Yellow and white are the hardest of all, and we will be honest with you about this at your consultation rather than after you have paid.
We patch test every client before starting, so you know how your skin responds before you commit to a course.
Will I Scar from Tattoo Removal?
This is a very common question; scarring from tattoo removal is very unlikely. The only time a person may scar is if a blister occurs that becomes infected and untreated. Our experts always make sure you are comfortable throughout the whole treatment. Blistering is more likely to occur with tattoo removal than with any other treatment due to the power of the laser involved. If a client does blister, following our aftercare instructions will ensure the blister is kept clean, scabs and heals quickly, keeping scarring very unlikely and rare.
How Much Will It Cost?
Every tattoo is unique, and prices vary depending on the size, colour and age of the tattoo. Prices for laser tattoo removal in Cardiff start from £60, and we will provide your full quotation during your consultation. You can view our full price list here.
