Fungal Nail Treatment Cardiff
What is Nail Fungus?
Nail fungus is an infection that enters through cracks in the nail or small cuts in the surrounding skin. It causes the nail to change colour, thicken and in some cases become painful. Fungus thrives in warm, damp environments, which is why toenails are most commonly affected. Different types of fungi and yeast can affect different parts of the nail. Left untreated, the infection can spread to other toenails, fingernails or the surrounding skin.
In the past, the main options were medication with significant side effects or surgery to remove the nail entirely. Our fungal nail treatment in Cardiff provides a safer, more effective alternative with no harsh side effects.

How does the treatment work?
An Nd:YAG laser is used to destroy nail fungus and fungal spores. The laser practitioner repeatedly passes the laser over each nail, heating the entire nail area to destroy the infection. This process is repeated several times during each session. A cooling device is used throughout to manage any discomfort.
When will I see results?
Clients will not see an immediate result as the nail must grow out clear to show the treatment has been successful. Results vary person to person and aftercare plays a vital part in the overall outcome.
How many treatments will I need?
On average, 6 to 8 treatments are needed, spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart. The number of sessions depends heavily on how well the nails are cared for throughout the course of treatment. Maintenance sessions may be required after the initial course.

Is it painful?
The treatment can feel uncomfortable as the nails need to reach a sufficient temperature to destroy the fungal infection. This is managed throughout the session with a cooling device to keep you as comfortable as possible.
Consultation Procedure
A £50 deposit is taken to secure your consultation, which is redeemable against treatment if you decide to go ahead. Before treatment, a free consultation is conducted where your medical history is reviewed to confirm suitability. This is also a good opportunity to ask any questions you have. Before treatment commences, written consent is taken, and a small patch test is carried out.
If you are also dealing with skin concerns such as verrucas, our skin tag and verruca removal treatment uses the same laser technology and can be discussed at your consultation. Get in touch to book your fungal nail treatment in Cardiff today.
