Skin Tag Removal Cardiff
At LaserWise, skin tag removal in Cardiff is quick, non-surgical and carried out at our HIW-registered clinic on Whitchurch Road. Skin tags are harmless, but they catch on clothing and jewellery; they can bleed when they snag, and many people simply dislike how they look. If a skin tag is bothering you, you do not have to live with it.
What Are Skin Tags and What Causes Them?
Skin tags are small, soft growths on the surface of the skin. Most are flesh-coloured, only a few millimetres across, and hang from a thin stalk.
They appear where skin rubs against skin or clothing, so the neck, eyelids, armpits, groin and under the breasts are the usual spots. They become more common with age, often run in families, and can show up during pregnancy.
They are benign. Skin tags are not contagious, and there is no medical reason to treat one. Most people choose skin tag removal because a tag keeps catching on clothing or jewellery, bleeds when it snags, or sits somewhere they notice every day.
One thing worth saying plainly: if a lump is changing in size, shape or colour, or you are not sure it is a skin tag, see your GP first. You can read more about skin tags on the NHS website. We check suitability at every consultation and will tell you honestly if something needs a medical opinion.
Which Skin Lesions Can We Treat?
Skin tags are not the only lump we remove. The same treatment works on several other harmless blemishes, all priced the same.
Milia are tiny white bumps, often around the eyes. They are trapped keratin, not spots, and squeezing them does not work.
Cherry angiomas are small red dots, sometimes called blood spots. They are clusters of tiny blood vessels and are very common after 30.
Spider naevi are thread veins with a red centre and fine lines spreading out. If you have broader redness across the cheeks or nose, our rosacea and thread vein treatment may suit you better.
Seborrhoeic keratoses are rough, raised patches, usually brown. They are age spots rather than moles. For flatter brown patches from sun exposure, see our sun damage and pigmentation removal page.
Not sure what you have? Book a consultation, and we will tell you.

What is the removal process?
Skin tag removal is a non-invasive procedure that uses advanced laser technology to eliminate bothersome skin tags from your body, including your face, neck, and underarms. If you’re looking for a safe and efficient way to remove skin tags, you’re in the right place.
How does it work?
Once the area is prepped, your practitioner will use a specialised laser device to target the skin tags. The laser emits a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the pigments in the skin tag, causing it to break down and disintegrate. The surrounding skin remains unharmed because the laser is calibrated to specifically target the pigmentation of the skin tag.

Aftercare
Should I Remove a Skin Tag Myself?
Home kits, freezing sprays and the old trick of tying dental floss around the base all carry the same risks. You can end up with an infection, a scar, or bleeding that is hard to stop. And if the lump was not a skin tag in the first place, you have removed something that should have been looked at.
Cutting one off yourself is worse again. Skin tags have a blood supply, and neck and eyelid tags sit close to areas you do not want to injure.
In clinic, it takes minutes. The area is cleaned first, the treatment is quick, and you leave with proper aftercare advice.

Does Skin Tag Removal Hurt?
During the procedure, you may feel a mild tingling or snapping sensation as the laser works on each skin tag. However, this discomfort is typically minimal and brief.
How Long Does Skin Tag Removal Take To Work?
Over the next few weeks, the skin tags will naturally fall off or can be gently wiped away. You’ll be left with smoother, blemish-free skin.
How much does it cost?
Prices vary depending on the amount of asking tags to be treated as well as the area. You can pay as you go or you can purchase a course of 6 treatments and receive a 20% discount off the total amount. To view our full price list click here.
Consultation Procedure
A £50 deposit is taken to secure your appointment which is redeemable on treatment. Prior to treatment, a free-of-charge consultation is conducted in which a medical history is taken to confirm suitability for treatment. This is also a good opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. Before treatment commences, you must provide written consent, and a small test patch will be carried out.
